Ways To Serve
Every week NLCDC engages with more than 300 community members through our various programs. We want to serve God by serving others, and we are excited to have opportunities to use our gifts, talents, and time to make a difference.

[URGENT NEED] Serve meals to neighbors experiencing homelessness

The Homeless Ministry is URGENTLY seeking caring individuals for Tuesday evenings to help set up and prepare, serve a hot meal, and help clean and break down afterward. Come serve once or twice a month, or once a week to serve those who are hungry and in need.

[URGENT NEED] Seeking an OB/GYN with a NYS license to help read and approve ultrasound scans at the Health Center!

Our Community Health Center is looking for an OB/GYN with a NYS license (retired or actively practicing, as long as their license is active). This would be a volunteer position to help the Women's Clinic and be the supervising physician for reading the ultrasounds. They can read the scans remotely and do not need to be local to New York City. Please email info@newlifecdc.nyc or visit the Community Health Center volunteer webpage for more info and to get started.
Help us capture the beautiful stories of our neighbors through photos, videos, and storytelling!

Do you like to film and create content? Do you have a passion to capture images through the lens of a camera? Whether you are an aficionado honing the skills on the side or a professional artist we need your help! CDC is small but the work we do is LARGE! We would love to capture and preserve the work we do and the people we engage through visual arts and media. This will allow us to further engage our community by adding meaningful visuals to the stories we share.
-
We would like to be able to capture various programming events throughout the year. Need is not consistent and can be planned in advance.
-
Annually, we hope to create an Impact Video that captures the uniqueness of our community and the relationships that we invest in to show the beauty of what loving like Jesus looks like. Any individual interested in helping (producer, director, videographer, video editor) is welcomed with open arms!

Do you have a car and a desire to meet our neighbors?

Every Saturday bags of groceries are delivered by volunteers with cars to families in the community that face food insecurity.
-
We are looking for more volunteers who can sign up for one or two Saturdays a month to deliver bags of groceries to 5-6 families in Elmhurst or Corona. Volunteers arrive at New Life Saturday morning at 10 am to load up the car and deliver them which will take about one to two hours.
-
Volunteers on occasion pick up additional gifts for families that have been donated and can be delivered along with groceries - things like backpacks for students, winter clothing or gift cards. Over time, many volunteers and families have deepened their relationship and have opportunities to pray together and encourage each other.

Sign up to be a youth mentor or coach!

Young Governors was founded more than 11 years ago with the mission of equipping youth with the tools they need to create positive change with their peers, families, community, and the world. If you have a heart for empowering and encouraging youth the Young Governors are looking for coaches and mentors to share insights and encouragement in areas of college prep, starting college, and navigating life in general in these crazy times.
Please email info@newlifecdc.nyc or visit their website to learn more.
Do you have a heart to cook?

The meals to go for our homeless neighbors are cooked and prepared by volunteers.
-
Volunteers pick up uncooked food each week and then cook it in large batches at their home. Cooked food is then picked up or delivered to New Life every Tuesday and Saturday where the prepared food is individually packaged and distributed at the New Life building by Pantry staff.
-
If you can commit to cooking two meals a month (or more!) we would love to get you connected. For some volunteers, it has been a life-giving opportunity to cook with friends and family and pray together for those who will be eating what they are cooking!

Looking for more medical providers and front desk assistants!

The Health Center is seeking volunteers to serve on Tuesday nights and Saturday mornings. If you are a Medical Provider (Physician, Physician Assistant, Nurse Practitioner or Nurse) who can serve at least once per month, OR a high school or college student with an interest in medical professions and serving the poor, OR a bi-lingual Spanish/English speaking volunteer who can assist the homeless, help onboard new clients and assist with cleaning and front desk duties when translation services are not needed.
Please email info@newlifecdc.nyc or visit the Community Health Center volunteer webpage for more info and to get started.
