ESL* (program temporarily suspended)
Our ESL classes seek to provide free English as a Second Language (ESL) instruction to the local immigrant community of Elmhurst and Corona by stressing verbal communication. Elmhurst and Corona represent the most ethnically and linguistically diverse communities in the United States with 65% of the population being foreign-born. A third of households in the district are considered “linguistically isolated,” meaning no one in the household aged 14 or older speaks English “very well.” More than just a class, our volunteer teachers and ESL students, build a supportive and accepting community that celebrates the diversity in culture through the learning of a shared language.
