New Life CDC Joins Annual Beacon Spring Health Fair
New Life CDC joined many community organizations at the Annual Beacon Spring Health Fair co-hosted by Sunnyside Community Services and APEX for Youth on Friday, April 21st at I.S. 5 - The Walter Crowley School. More than 15 organizations were present to share information and resources with children, families, and the community at large. There were activities, games, snacks, and prizes available for the hundreds of individuals that participated.
The weather was perfect, the DJ was grooving, and excitement and joy was palpable. Although the Zumba class was intense, one tiny girl outdanced the big kids in a mighty way. Moms with young kids and older, retired Dads were eager to sign up for "Yoga with Lisa." We missed out on the free momos though because it was the most popular vendor and the line never ended! It was a joy to be in the community to connect with the families who stopped by our table and share the resources available through New Life CDC as well as invite them to learn more about us. We were also able to connect with the many other community-based organizations that are working in and with the communities of Elmhurst and Corona to share what we do and learn more about their programs and services.
